Dying to Self, Living in Christ — Today’s Marriage Prayer
Dear heavenly Father,
At the cross, we are reminded that the old life is not meant to be carried forward. Your Word tells us, “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.”
Today we bring that truth into our marriage.
Teach us to lay down self.
When pride rises, help us surrender it.
When we want our own way, remind us to release it.
When we hold tightly to our rights, teach us to place them in Your hands.
Lord, this kind of dying is not loud—it happens quietly, in daily choices. In the words we choose not to say, in the grace we extend when it isn’t deserved, in the humility that chooses love over self.
Help us die to what divides.
And as we do, let new life in Christ rise.
May Your Word work in us so that Christ lives in us—in the way we speak, in the way we respond, in the way we love one another. Form His patience in us. His gentleness. His willingness to serve.
Father, just as the cross was not the end, remind us that surrender is never wasted. What is laid down in obedience is raised again in new life.
Day by day, choice by choice, shape us into people who love not from our own strength, but from the life of Christ within us.
In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
