Finding Strength in Surrender

Finding Strength in Surrender - Today's Marriage Prayer

Dear heavenly Father,

We thank You for the peace that comes when we surrender our will to Yours. We ask that You help us to lay down our need for control—the desire to win arguments, to shape outcomes, or to always have the last word. Teach us instead to trust Your wisdom above our own and to walk in quiet confidence that You are working for our good.

When pride whispers that yielding means weakness, remind us that true strength is found in submission to You. We ask that You help us to let go of stubbornness and self-interest so that humility and gentleness might grow in their place.

Lord, may our marriage reflect this surrender—not one of defeat, but of faith. Help us to yield to one another out of reverence for Christ, showing the same love and patience You show toward us. In moments of tension, guide our hearts toward peace; in seasons of uncertainty, teach us to rest in Your plan.

We ask that You be glorified in our surrender, as our lives and marriage become living proof that Your strength is made perfect in our weakness.

In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.

Today’s Bible Verse

And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. — 2 Corinthians 12:9, KJV

But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 2 Corinthians 12:9, NIV
