Growing in Compassion

Growing in Compassion - Today's Marriage Prayer

Dear heavenly Father,

We thank You for the compassion You have shown us through Christ—a love that meets us in our weakness and lifts us with mercy. We ask that You help us to grow in that same compassion toward one another. When words fall short or expectations go unmet, may we choose empathy over judgment and gentleness over frustration.

Teach us to see beyond each other’s faults and to understand the burdens that lie beneath them. We ask that You help us to respond with kindness even when it’s not returned, and to remember that compassion often speaks loudest through patience and care.

Lord, may Your Spirit soften our hearts where they have grown indifferent or cold. Help us to notice when the other is hurting and to offer comfort rather than correction. We ask that our marriage would become a reflection of Your tenderhearted love—a safe place where grace is practiced daily and understanding runs deep.

May compassion be the language of our love, reminding us that mercy triumphs over pride, and that every act of kindness honors You.

In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
