Growing in Patience With One Another — Today’s Marriage Prayer
Dear heavenly Father,
We come before You today aware of how often impatience can slip into our words, our reactions, and even our thoughts toward one another. Marriage places us close—close enough for small frustrations to surface and for expectations to rise. We need Your help to respond in ways that honor You.
Teach us to be patient, not just when it’s easy, but when we feel tired, misunderstood, or stretched thin. Help us slow down before speaking, giving grace room to breathe. When we are tempted to demand our own way, remind us that love is not rushed and does not insist on being right.
Lord, shape our hearts so that patience becomes a reflection of Your work within us, not something we try to force on our own. Help us recognize moments when our spouse needs gentleness more than correction, listening more than answers, understanding more than solutions.
When disagreements arise, guide us to pause and remember that we are on the same side. Let patience guard our tone and soften our responses. May it keep us from harsh words and lead us instead toward kindness and self-control.
We ask that You use every moment of waiting—every delay, every misunderstanding, every unresolved conversation—to grow maturity and trust in our marriage. Let patience deepen our unity and strengthen our love, so that our relationship reflects Your steady, faithful care.
We place our marriage in Your hands today, trusting You to do what we cannot do on our own.
In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
