Keeping Our Hearts Tender Toward One Another — Today’s Marriage Prayer
Dear heavenly Father,
Thank You for the gift of sharing a life — not only the joyful days, but the ordinary ones, the stretched ones, the quiet ones. Over time, disappointments can leave small marks on the heart. We ask You to guard ours from growing hard.
Keep us tender toward one another. When fatigue shortens our patience or stress sharpens our tone, soften us. Do not allow small hurts to settle unnoticed. If anything has taken root beneath the surface, bring it into Your light and heal it before it shapes our words.
Lord, teach us to handle each other’s hearts with care. Help us remember that we are still becoming — still learning, still being refined. When one of us feels fragile, let the other respond gently. When one withdraws, give the other wisdom to move closer with grace.
Protect our marriage from quiet distance. Let warmth remain where familiarity might try to cool it. Restore affection where routine has dulled it. Help us notice the subtle shifts and turn back toward one another quickly.
May our home be a place of softness — where honesty is safe, repentance is welcomed, and forgiveness flows freely. Keep pride from stiffening our spirits. Keep love responsive and alive.
Father, keep our hearts open to You and open to each other, so that tenderness becomes the steady climate of our marriage.
