Learning to Listen - Today's Marriage Prayer
Dear heavenly Father,
We thank You for the gift of communication, for the ability to speak and to listen. We ask that You help us to become better listeners—slow to speak, slow to anger, and quick to understand. Teach us to listen not only with our ears, but with our hearts, discerning the feelings and needs behind each word.
When conversations grow tense or emotions rise, remind us that listening is an act of love. Help us to resist the urge to interrupt or to defend, and instead to offer patience, gentleness, and grace. We ask that You quiet our minds from distraction so that we can truly hear one another.
Lord, we know that many misunderstandings are softened when humility leads the way. May our willingness to listen become a bridge of peace between us. Let our words build trust and our silence make space for healing.
We ask that You shape our marriage into one where communication flows with honesty, kindness, and care—a reflection of the way You listen when we pray.
In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
