Not To Dwell On Useless Thoughts

Not To Dwell On Useless Thoughts –
Today’s Marriage Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,

May our thoughts be pure. Help us to remember to stand guard over our mind — to meditate on Your Word, and to be careful not to dwell on useless thoughts — no matter how harmless they might seem. These intrusive thoughts are like a seed that if allowed to germinate will lead to all manner of temptation.

Your word tells us not to be conformed to this world but to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. And so we ask for the grace to grow to maturity, and to keep us from secret sins. Give us a hunger and thirst for righteousness, so that Your Word is in our hearts and minds always. For we know that righteous living must start from within before it can be shown outward.

Remind us to seek the best for each other, as well as others — to keep them in our thoughts and prayers continually.

In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

Today’s Bible Verse

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. (KJV) Romans 12:1-2

Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect. (NASB) Romans 12:1-2
