Not To Lean On Our Own Understanding — Today's Marriage Prayer
Dear heavenly Father,
Sometimes we try to figure it all out—how to fix things, how to plan ahead, how to make everything work just right. But the truth is, our understanding is limited. We don’t see the full picture, and we don’t always know what’s best. That’s why we’re coming to You together, hand in hand, asking for help to trust You more.
Teach us not to lean on our own understanding but to look to You—to trust that You’re leading us even when the road feels uncertain. When we hit bumps along the way or when we don’t see eye to eye, remind us that You are our anchor. You’re the One holding us steady.
Help us to pray more than we plan. To listen more than we assume. To believe that You are working all things together for good—even when we don’t understand how. Give us a peace that doesn’t come from having all the answers, but from knowing we’re walking through life with You.
We love You, Lord. And we want our marriage to reflect that love—in the way we speak, the way we forgive, and the way we follow Your lead.
In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
