Placing Our Trust In Misplaced Wisdom –
Today’s Marriage Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, knowing that sometimes we lean on our own understanding rather than seeking Your wisdom. As a married couple in the world today, it’s easy to be swayed by the world’s advice or to rely on our own limited perspective. But we know that true wisdom comes from You alone.
Lord, help us to recognize when we are placing our trust in misplaced wisdom—whether it’s in prideful opinions, worldly counsel, or even in our own desires. Teach us to turn to Your Word as our ultimate guide, and to Your Spirit as the teacher of truth, remembering that Your ways are higher than our ways, and Your thoughts are higher than our thoughts.
Give us the humility to seek Your direction in every decision we make as a couple. When disagreements arise, remind us to pause and pray, asking for Your wisdom to lead us rather than rushing to defend our own viewpoints. Let us be quick to listen to each other with understanding and slow to speak in anger.
Help us to build our marriage on the foundation of Your truth, not on fleeting trends or popular opinions. Guard our hearts and minds against the deception of worldly wisdom, and fill us instead with the knowledge of Your will, through all spiritual wisdom and understanding.
We ask that You draw us closer to You and to each other as we seek to honor You in our marriage. May our love for one another be rooted in the wisdom that comes from above, which is pure, peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy, and good fruit.
We place our trust in You, Lord, knowing that as we seek Your wisdom, You will faithfully guide us.
In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
Today’s Bible Verse
But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness; But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God. The Foolish to Shame the Wise Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men. – 1 Corinthians 1:23-25, KJV

But we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength. – 1 Corinthians 1:23-25, NIV
