Speaking Well of Each Other - Today's Marriage Prayer
Dear heavenly Father,
Your Word tells us to let no corrupt communication come out of our mouths, but only what is useful for building others up. In our marriage, help us to take that truth to heart.
Teach us to speak well of each other—in public and in private. Guard our lips from careless words that tear down, and instead fill our mouths with encouragement, respect, and gratitude. Let us be quick to praise each other’s strengths, patient with each other’s weaknesses, and faithful to protect one another’s reputation.
When frustrations come, remind us that our words can either harm or heal. Give us the grace to choose life-giving speech, words that bless instead of wound, so that our marriage grows stronger and others see the beauty of love rooted in Christ.
In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
