In My Father's House

Our newest Bible Study In My Father’s House is now underway.

It’s not too late to join as we see the beautiful work God is doing in His people as He gathers, shapes, strengthens, and prepares us for the eternal home He has promised.

In My Father’s House is a study about belonging, surrender, refinement, hope, and the promise that one day, every child of God will finally be home.

Teach Us to Be Quick to Listen

Teach Us to Be Quick to Listen—Today's Marriage Prayer

Dear heavenly Father,

It’s amazing how easy it is to think we’re listening when we’re really just waiting for our turn to speak. Sometimes we’re already forming our response before the other person has even finished their sentence. Other times we’re distracted by a dozen other thoughts, and though we hear the words, we miss the heart behind them.

Father, teach us to truly listen to one another.

Give us ears that are attentive and hearts that are willing to understand before we try to be understood. Help us slow down long enough to hear not only what’s being said, but also what’s being felt. Keep us from dismissing concerns that seem small to us but may be weighing heavily on our spouse’s heart.

Forgive us for the times we’ve interrupted, assumed, or failed to give each other the gift of our full attention. Help us put aside distractions and be fully present in our conversations. May our spouse never have to wonder if we’re listening, but instead feel seen, heard, and valued because of the care we give to their words.

Lord, thank You that You never grow weary of hearing our prayers. You listen with perfect love and endless patience. Help us reflect that same grace in our marriage, creating a home where both of us feel safe to speak honestly, knowing we’ll be met with compassion instead of criticism.

In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.

Today’s Bible Verse

Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath.James 1:19, KJV

My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry. James 1:19, NIV
