Teach Us to Be Thankful for This Season—Today's Marriage Prayer
Dear heavenly Father,
It’s easy to believe that we’ll be happier “someday.” Someday when life slows down. Someday when the bills are paid, the house is quieter, or the schedule isn’t so full. We can spend so much time looking ahead that we forget You’re already at work in the season we’re living today.
Father, help us not to wish this season away.
Teach us to find You in the middle of ordinary days. Whether we’re raising children, adjusting to an empty nest, building careers, caring for aging parents, or simply learning what this season of marriage looks like, help us trust that You have purpose here. Open our eyes to the blessings we might otherwise overlook and remind us that Your grace is just as present on an ordinary Tuesday as it is on life’s biggest milestones.
When we’re tempted to think life will be better somewhere down the road, bring our hearts back to today. Help us laugh together while we can, make memories while we can, and enjoy the gift of walking through this season hand in hand. We don’t want to miss today’s blessings because we’re always waiting for tomorrow’s.
Lord, thank You for going before us in every season of life. We can trust You with what’s behind us, what’s in front of us, and everything in between. Help us receive today as a gift from Your hand and to love each other well, right here, right now.
