Teach Us to Choose Grace Before Being Right—Today's Marriage Prayer
Dear heavenly Father,
There are moments when we know we’re right. We have the facts, we remember the conversation, and we’re sure our perspective is the correct one. But sometimes, in the middle of proving our point, we lose sight of something far more important—we’re talking to the person we promised to love.
Father, teach us to value our relationship more than winning an argument.
Give us the wisdom to know when it’s time to speak and when it’s better to simply listen. Help us lay down our pride before it has a chance to build a wall between us. Remind us that a gentle answer can accomplish far more than the perfect comeback, and that humility has a way of opening doors that stubbornness never can.
When we disagree, help us remember that we’re not standing on opposite sides. We’re on the same side, seeking Your wisdom together. Keep us from turning small disagreements into bigger divisions. Instead, teach us to ask good questions, to seek understanding, and to respond with the kind of grace You’ve shown us so many times.
Lord, thank You for Your incredible patience with us. You never shame us when we’re wrong, but lovingly lead us toward truth. Help us reflect that same heart in our marriage. May our home be known, not for who wins the argument, but for the love, humility, and peace that grow when two people choose to honor You above themselves.
In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
