Teach Us to Handle Each Other’s Weaknesses With Care—Today's Marriage Prayer
Dear heavenly Father,
Marriage gives us a close-up view of each other’s lives. We see the strengths that others admire, but we also see the fears, habits, disappointments, and tender places that few people ever know about. That kind of closeness is a precious gift, but it also comes with a responsibility to handle each other’s hearts with care.
Father, help us remember that.
When we see a weakness in one another, keep us from using it as ammunition during an argument. Guard us from careless words that expose what was shared in confidence or bring up an old failure simply because we know it will hurt. Instead, we ask that You give us compassion, wisdom, and the self-control to protect what has been entrusted to us.
Help us speak honestly without being harsh. Teach us to encourage growth without becoming critical, and to offer correction with the same humility we hope to receive. Remind us that neither one of us is finished yet. We are both dependent on Your grace, and we both need room to repent, heal, and mature.
Lord, thank You for knowing every weakness within us and still loving us faithfully. May our marriage reflect that love. Let our home be a place where truth is welcomed, confession is met with mercy, and our most vulnerable places are treated with tenderness rather than contempt.
In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
