Teach Us to Make Home a Place of Rest—Today's Marriage Prayer
Dear heavenly Father,
There’s something comforting about walking through the front door after a long day. We all long for a place where we can exhale, where we don’t have to pretend we’re stronger than we are, and where we’re loved even on the days when we’re running on empty.
Father, help our home become that kind of place.
When the day has been long and our patience is wearing thin, remind us that the person walking through the door may be carrying burdens we can’t see. Help us greet each other with warmth instead of distraction, with kindness instead of impatience, and with a willingness to listen before we rush into everything that still needs to be done.
Teach us to make our home a refuge from the pressures of the world. May our words bring comfort instead of criticism. May forgiveness come quickly, laughter be heard often, and prayer become as natural as conversation. Help us create an atmosphere where Your peace is welcomed and where both of us find strength to face another day.
Lord, thank You that no matter what waits for us outside these walls, You’re already here. Fill our home with Your presence. Let it be a place where love is freely given, grace is never in short supply, and weary hearts find rest in You and in each other.
