Teach Us to Make Time for What Matters Most—Today's Marriage Prayer
Dear heavenly Father,
Some of the most important things in life never ask for our attention—they simply wait for it. Our marriage is often like that. The laundry reminds us it’s there. The emails keep arriving. The phone keeps buzzing. But the person sitting beside us quietly waits, hoping for a few unhurried moments together.
Father, don’t let the urgent crowd out what matters most.
Teach us to make room for each other in the middle of busy days. Help us put aside our to-do lists every now and then and simply enjoy being together. Remind us that some of the sweetest moments in marriage aren’t planned at all. They’re found in an evening walk, a conversation over coffee, a shared laugh in the kitchen, or a few quiet minutes before the day begins.
Forgive us for the times we’ve been so busy building a life that we’ve forgotten to slow down and enjoy it. Help us remember that love grows stronger when we spend time together—not because we’re checking another box, but because we’re choosing to invest in the relationship You’ve entrusted to us.
Lord, thank You for the gift of time. Every day is a gift from Your hand, and we don’t want to waste it. Teach us to use our days wisely, loving well, listening carefully, and making memories that point us back to Your goodness. May our marriage be strengthened, not by extraordinary moments alone, but by the ordinary moments we choose to share.
