Teach Us to Pray Together More Often—Today's Marriage Prayer
Dear heavenly Father,
There are seasons when praying together comes naturally. And then there are seasons when life gets so busy that we tell ourselves we’ll do it tomorrow. Tomorrow turns into next week, and before long we’ve talked about everything else—our schedules, the bills, the kids, the house—but we’ve forgotten to bring those things to You together.
Father, draw us back.
Help us not to make prayer feel complicated or something we have to do perfectly. Remind us that You aren’t asking for polished words. You’re inviting us to come to You, just as we are. Give us the desire to pause, even for a few moments, and place our day into Your hands.
When we’re celebrating, teach us to thank You together. When we’re worried, remind us to seek You before we try to carry the burden ourselves. When one of us is struggling to find the words, let the other gently lead the way. And when all we can pray is, “Father, we need You,” remind us that You hear every sincere prayer.
Lord, thank You that You’re not only the foundation of our marriage, but the One who walks with us every step of the way. Draw us closer to Yourself, and as You do, draw us closer to each other. May prayer become as natural in our home as conversation, and may we never forget the peace that comes from bringing our hearts before You together.
In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
