Teach Us to Surrender What We Cannot Carry — Today’s Marriage Prayer
Dear heavenly Father,
We thank You that You never intended for us to shoulder every weight on our own. We ask that You teach us to surrender what we cannot carry—worries we’ve held too tightly, expectations we’ve tried to control, and pressures that slowly drain our strength.
Help us recognize the burdens we’ve brought into our marriage without realizing it. Show us where anxiety shapes our responses, where fear influences our tone, or where unspoken concerns create distance between us. We ask that You give us the humility to lay these things before You rather than letting them settle into our hearts.
Lord, teach us to rest in Your sovereignty. Remind us that surrender is not giving up—it is giving over. It is trusting that You can do what we cannot, and believing that Your wisdom, timing, and care far surpass our own.
As we release these burdens, fill our hearts with peace that steadies our thoughts and softens our interactions. May the freedom You provide shape our marriage with patience, gentleness, and renewed love.
In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
