The Pitfalls Of Being Too Busy

The Pitfalls Of Being Too Busy –
Today’s Marriage Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,

We know that time is precious, and we’re thankful for the time we’ve been given. Our past, our future, and all of the memories in between.

Teach us to spend our days wisely, Lord. To be generous with our time yet careful about what we commit to. Give us the wisdom we need for a well-balanced life—not doing too much, nor doing too little.

Looking to Your word we see one sister ready to sit at the feet of her Lord, and the other too busy to stop.

“Martha, Martha,” He said, “Thou art careful and troubled about many things.”

We see a balance that’s pleasing to you, and the pitfalls of being too busy. Too busy to spend time at Your feet. Too busy to spend time together. Too busy to slow down and relax.

Remind us to slow down for each other, Lord. Remind us to slow down for You.

In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

Today’s Bible Verse

But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, “Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.” And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:40-42, KJV

But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!” “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:40-42, NIV
