The Things That Make a Marriage Great

The Things That Make a Marriage Great –
Today’s Marriage Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,

We want a beautiful marriage, and we know that it comes from a beautiful heart. The virtues we hold dear — the ones we allow to shape us, also shape the way that we love.

Love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness… are evident in the lives of those who seek You with all of their heart. They are evident in those who live by the Spirit. These are the things that make a marriage great. These are the things that bring glory to You and peace to our home.

It doesn’t matter how big our house is, how much money we make, or what we own… None of those things could enrich our marriage the way that Your Spirit does in our lives.

Help us to continue to grow in our faith, bearing fruit for Your glory — loving You and loving each other in the beautiful way You designed.

In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

Today’s Bible Verse

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. – Galatians 5:22-25, KJV

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. – Galatians 5:22-25, NIV
