To Fully Live Our Our Vows

To Fully Live Our Our Vows – Today’s
Marriage Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,

Help us to fully live out our vows — to keep the promises we made to each other when we said our “I do’s.” It’s easy to say, “I promise to love, honor, and cherish you.” But unless this is our deliberate focus, it’s easy to forget our promise to one another when we’re tired, stressed out, or angry. It’s during those times that giving is far from our minds, and taking comes easy.

Sometimes pride stings more than we ever imagined it would, but Your word tells us that You honor those who keep an oath even when hurts. (Psalm 15:4) Remind us to pray for one another, and show us ways to keep our marriage alive and our promises fresh.

May we give each other the best of ourselves, instead of what’s left at the end of each day. Not just because it’s a wise thing to do, but because we cherish each other as much as we promised we would.

Help us to reaffirm our love by our actions, because actions speak louder than words ever could.

In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

Today’s Bible Verse

He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart. He that backbiteth not with his tongue, nor doeth evil to his neighbour, nor taketh up a reproach against his neighbour. In whose eyes a vile person is contemned; but he honoureth them that fear the Lord. He that sweareth to his own hurt, and changeth not. – Psalm 15:1-4, KJV

Lord, who may dwell in your sacred tent? Who may live on your holy mountain? The one whose walk is blameless, who does what is righteous, who speaks the truth from their heart; whose tongue utters no slander, who does no wrong to a neighbor, and casts no slur on others; who despises a vile person but honors those who fear the Lord who keeps an oath even when it hurts, and does not change their mind. – Psalm 15:1-4, NIV
