To Keep Our Emotions In Check –
Today’s Marriage Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
Your Word says that love is patient and kind, and yet there are days when our patience is paper thin, and we are hardly as kind as we should be.
Lord, in moments of emotional turmoil, grant us the serenity that comes only from Your Spirit. Help us to keep our emotions in check, not letting anger, frustration, or misunderstanding rule our hearts. Instead, fill us with Your peace, the peace that surpasses all understanding, to guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
Teach us, O God, to communicate with gentleness and understanding. Remind us that our words have the power to heal or to hurt, to build up or to break down. May our conversations be seasoned with grace, and may we always be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry.
In times of disagreement, give us the humility to seek forgiveness and the grace to forgive, just as You have forgiven us. Let our love be a reflection of Your unconditional love, a love that bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
