To Keep Our Eyes On You – Today’s
Marriage Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,

We ask that You help us to keep our eyes on You and off of this world.

It’s natural to want approval, acceptance, and confirmation. But if we’re looking for fulfillment, or to gain favor from this world — if we’re trying to please others more than You, our heart is in the wrong place.

We’re servants of Christ, not of this world. Bring us into obedience to Your will. Turn our hearts toward You and only You. Give us the wisdom to choose well, the faith to follow Your lead, and the courage to stand when our faith is put to the test.

Your Word isn’t popular, our faith isn’t mainstream, and the choices we make are confusing to many. But we’re not here to please man, we’re here to glorify You.

Help us to do that, Lord. Help us to faithfully serve when our faith is tested and when others are standing against us.

In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

Today’s Bible Verse

For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ. – Galatians 1:10

Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ. – Galatians 1:10, NIV

The Virtuous Life of a Christ-Centered Wife is written in the format of an 18-part study for daily or weekly reflection. Not only is it a powerful tool for personal growth, but it’s also an ideal study guide for small groups! Each lesson leads you through one virtue at a time, offering you applicable and inspiring ways for a wife to grow closer to God and her husband. The virtues discussed are these:

Virtue calls us to action. As we exercise each one, they bring our flesh in line with our Spirit. It’s one thing to know what’s good, and it’s another to walk in obedience to the knowledge that we have received. Not always easy, but obedience to our faith is always worth the effort it takes!
