To Take Our Eyes Off Of Ourselves

To Take Our Eyes Off Of Ourselves –
Today’s Marriage Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You, asking for Your grace to guide our hearts and minds in this marriage. Teach us to value the bond we share above our own desires for control or getting our own way. Help us to see the beauty in selflessness, knowing that our marriage thrives when we place love, unity, and humility at the forefront.

Lord, we ask for the ability to break free from the chains of self-importance and pride that can so easily take hold. Give us the wisdom to recognize when our flesh is fighting to dominate our actions, and the courage to resist it. May we lean on Your Spirit in those moments of weakness, trusting that You will give us the strength to walk according to Your will, even when it’s hard.

We know, Father, that we will stumble at times. But when we do, we ask that You lift us back to our feet. Grant us the humility to confess our faults to one another and to You, and the strength to continue pressing forward with grace and love. Let us be quick to forgive, quick to listen, and slow to take offense, always seeking restoration and peace.

Help us to take our eyes off of ourselves so we may focus on You. May we not fall for deceptive teaching or give any ground to temptations that threaten to divide us, but instead stand firm in the strength of Your Spirit. Guard our hearts from selfishness, and remind us daily that Your way leads to life and joy.

Above all, Lord, may our marriage bring glory to Your name. As we choose humility, love, and perseverance, let others see Your work in us, and may we be a reflection of Your grace in all that we do.

In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

Today’s Bible Verse

Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. 4Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. – Philippians 2:3-4, KJV

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, 4not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. – Philippians 2:3-4, NIV
