Marriage Prayer – Peace & Harmony as We’re Growing in Grace

Dear Heavenly Father,

May we find peace and harmony as we’re growing in grace. Teach us to be affectionate and understanding toward one other.

Help us to use our words to edify and to build each other up.

Give us the wisdom to speak wisely, and the strength to control our tongue when we’re angry.

Help us to find the good in each other, to gently encourage, and to let go of the little things that get under our skin.

Grant us the strength to be patient and kind, and the wisdom to let go of pride.

Teach us what it really means to be married, and what must be done to fulfil our responsibilities as husband and wife.

In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen

So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church: For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. – Ephesians 5:28-31, KJV

In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. After all, no one ever hated their own body, but they feed and care for their body, just as Christ does the church—for we are members of his body. For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh. – Ephesians 5:28-31, NIV
