Today’s Marriage Prayer – The Tearing Down of All Strongholds

Dear Heavenly Father,

Help us to tear down the strongholds we have in our lives. Remove any lust, any addiction, and any desire that stands between our soul and Your will.

Your word tells us that we are no longer slaves to our sin, but we struggle, Lord. We have a desire to do well, but so often we fail. We need Your help, because we can’t do this on our strength alone.

Help us to bring every bad habit, and every bad thought into obedience to Your will. Give us the wisdom to identify the strongholds in our lives, and the strength to remove them. Give us power by Your Holy Spirit to break down the walls, to resist temptation, and to destroy the enemy who has come to kill and destroy the work You have started in us.

In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.

For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (for the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled. – 2 Corinthians 10:3-6, KJV

For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

And we will be ready to punish every act of disobedience, once your obedience is complete. – 2 Corinthians 10:3-6, NIV
