Today’s Marriage Prayer – To Be Steadfast in
Love Through the Years

Dear Heavenly Father,

We don’t want our relationship to go stale. We don’t want it to wane, wither, or fade. We want to be a couple that walks hand in hand through the years. We want to be friends that smile, love, and laugh together long into retirement.

We want our marriage to thrive as long as we both shall live, but we’re in need of Your strength.

Like gold, we’re refined, purified by the fire, each time our marriage is tested and tried. And it hurts some days when it feels like we’re at opposite ends of the spectrum. When pride, impatience, or self-righteousness creep into our marriage, give us the ability to see, and the power to stand up against it.

Help us to reconcile our differences quickly. Help us to let go of frustration and take firm hold of the love that covers a multitude of sins.

Should sickness or poverty be a part of our future, give us the faith to walk through it together.

Help us to be a couple that doesn’t give up. Help us to be of one mind, and one hope, steadfast in faith whatever may come.

In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.

Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord: looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled; – Hebrews 12:14-15, KJV
