Truly Abandoned to You –
Today’s Marriage Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
Marriage is a beautiful union where two souls are knit together, but we’re not truly complete until You’re at the center of all that we do.
Even though we face challenges daily, with You, we lack nothing. Without You, we’re left wanting more. Without You, we hunger for more of this world, and the things we long for only perish and rust. We search for contentment, but that search is destined to end in failure.
It’s human to seek validation. It’s natural to thirst for that confirmation and validation in each other. But those who are truly abandoned to You, are quenched. They’re overflowing with peace, contentment, and joy in the fellowship of other believers.
Bring us to that place of true worship, Lord. Give us a hunger and thirst for righteousness. Use our marriage to serve You. Fill us to overflowing with living water that quenches within.
In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
Today’s Bible Verse
Now Jacob’s well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour. There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink. (For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.) The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water? Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle? Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: but whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw. – John 4:6,7, 11-15, KJV

Jacob’s well was there, and Jesus, tired as he was from the journey, sat down by the well. It was about noon. When a Samaritan woman came to draw water, Jesus said to her, “Will you give me a drink?”. “Sir,” the woman said, “you have nothing to draw with and the well is deep. Where can you get this living water? Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well and drank from it himself, as did also his sons and his livestock?” Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water so that I won’t get thirsty and have to keep coming here to draw water.” -John 4:6,7,11-15, NIV
