A Gentle Quiet and Patient Spirit –
Today’s Marriage Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,

Sometimes it’s hard to keep pride at bay when we’re angry or hurt. It takes considerable patience to grow together and to do it with grace. And so we ask for your help, Lord. Give us the wisdom to choose our words carefully, and to listen closely with humility, compassion, and kindness.

When we’re anxious, frustrated, or down may we think first to kneel before You in prayer.

May ours be a gentle, quiet, and patient spirit — slow to anger, and bearing with each other in love. May our way of life be in contrast to the world so that we may encourage unity, peace, and truth within the body of Christ.

In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
