A Piece of Fine Art

A Piece of Fine Art –
Today’s Marriage Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,

Like a piece of fine art, uniquely created, we’re formed by the Master’s hands. No two are exactly alike. No two have the same character. No two possess an identical mix of qualities. We have differing roles in this marriage–unique gifts blending together to bring forth Your glory. Teach us to embrace our differences, accept who we are, and use our gifts to grow stronger together.

Help us to see the beauty in being unique and to accept each other for who we are. We have different ideas, we have our own passions, and we have opinions that don’t always match. Help us to open our hearts so that we might learn from each other.

Give us patience and kindness when we don’t see eye to eye. Remind us to slow down and consider each other’s ideas before we insist on our own. It can take a lifetime for us to truly understand each other, which is why we need Your wisdom and strength working through us.

In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

Today’s Bible Verse

For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another. – Romans 12:3-5, KJV

For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you. For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. – Romans 12:3-5, NIV
