To Slow Down Our Pace

To Slow Down Our Pace –
Today’s Marriage Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,

Some days its responsibilities at home, sometimes it’s our overwhelming schedule, and somewhere between the two, our lives are flipped upside down and tossed into chaos. So much to do, so little time, that we barely have a moment to think. During the crazy, upside-down days, remind us to seek restoration and find our strength in Your presence. Help us to slow down our pace and to quiet our hearts.

Like an oak tree standing firm and secure, may we take root in the love of our Saviour — established in faith, overflowing with hope, and patient with each passing day. As Jeremiah once wrote, “Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord… For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river.”

Teach us to pause, regardless of how busy or distracted we are, to pray together, and to spend time in Your Word. We ask that You give us the wisdom to limit our commitments so that we always have time for each other. Help us to establish godly habits that draw us nearer to You and strengthen our marriage.

For the closer we get to You, the closer we’ll be to each other.

In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

Today’s Bible Verse

Thus saith the Lord; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the Lord. For he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see when good cometh; but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land and not inhabited. Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is. For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit. – Jeremiah 17:5-8, KJV

This is what the Lord says: “Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who draws strength from mere flesh and whose heart turns away from the Lord. That person will be like a bush in the wastelands; they will not see prosperity when it comes. They will dwell in the parched places of the desert, in a salt land where no one lives. But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord,  whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.” – Jeremiah 17:5-8, NIV
