To Step Away From This World

To Step Away From This World –
Today’s Marriage Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,

We’re so used to holding on to the things of this world that it sometimes feels we’ve forgotten how to let go.

And so we come to You today asking that You would give us the strength and the courage it takes to step away from this world; away from the lusts of the world and the pride of life.

Away from a past that gets in the way of our future.

Away from anger, and resentment.

Away from a need to be right, when what we really need is to live right.

Away from the petty things that come between us, and focus on those things that make for peace.

Away from past relationships that don’t belong in the present.

Away from sorrow, so we may trade it for joy.

Away from self-centeredness so that we may truly love.

Away from fear, to step forward in faith.

Away from worry, that we may release our anxiety into Your hands.

Away from discouragement so we may find encouragement in Your Word.

In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

Today’s Bible Verse

Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. – Philippians 3:12-14, KJV

______________________________

Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. – Philippians 3:12-14, NIV
