Today’s Marriage Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,

Your Word tells us that the words we speak are a reflection of the condition of our heart — of the thoughts and attitudes that reside within us. Just like a tree is known by its fruit, we are known by our words. And just as a well cannot produce foul and fresh water together, we cannot speak life and death from the same mouth. Our words have the power to build up or tear down, to encourage or discourage, to bless or curse.

We ask that You help us to guard our hearts and minds, and allow the truth of Your Word to transform us from the inside out. May Your Spirit work within us so that we may naturally begin to reflect Your love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

Help us to always be mindful of the words we speak, making sure that they are filled with grace, truth, and love. May they be as a sweet fragrance to those around us. May they impact the lives of those we encounter each day.

In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
